Kutak Rock is a leading national law firm committed to exceptional client service and a collaborative approach. The Accounts Payable Specialist will support the accurate and timely processing of invoices, ensuring compliance with payment terms and firm policy.
Responsibilities
- Review vendor invoices, statements, client costs and other documents for accuracy and compliance with firm policies and procedures
- Enter invoices and client costs into the accounting system
- Ensure invoices have required approval, payment limits, and backup prior to payment
- Sort incoming mail, print, copy, mail, and file invoices, checks, and supporting documents
- Utilize imaging system to store vendor invoices and other supporting documents
- Record expense and client cost transactions to general ledger
- Reconcile vendor statements and previous unpaid balances on vendor invoices
- Review and process expense reports to ensure proper documentation and compliance with firm reimbursement policies and procedures
- Assist with state use tax compliance and filings
- Assist with 1099 compliance and reporting
- Assist with analysis of various client cost recovery items
- Assist with firm credit card and calling card administration as needed
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Assist with other duties as assigned

- General understanding of accounting practices and principles which includes accounts payable processes and procedures
- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to address payment discrepancies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills while working collegially with clients, attorneys, and staff
- Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel, experience with accounting software a plus (Aderant)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of relevant experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or cash management in a professional services organization preferred
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred
