About the position
TalentFish is casting a line for an Associate Risk Manager . This is a contract role in York, PA (hybrid) . The reason this position exists is to provide coverage during a maternity leave while ensuring continuity in managing professional liability claims, supporting litigation activities, and maintaining risk management operations within a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
• Manage insurance claims and support defense counsel throughout the claims lifecycle
• Evaluate risk exposure and assist with securing appropriate insurance coverage
• Conduct investigations into incidents involving alleged patient or visitor injury
• Participate in risk assessments such as Root Cause Analyses (RCA), PRAs, and FMEAs
• Review event reports and assist with patient safety investigations and regulatory considerations
• Analyze litigated claims to identify trends and reduce overall litigation costs
• Support development of litigation strategies in collaboration with legal counsel
• Track, report, and communicate litigation trends and risk metrics to leadership
• Coordinate with outside counsel on claims handling, discovery, legal costs, and settlements
• Review and approve legal invoices to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
• Identify, gather, and preserve materials relevant to litigation and investigations
• Develop reporting and provide updates to leadership on active and potential claims
• Deliver education and guidance on risk management topics across the organization
Requirements
• Master's degree with 5+ years of professional liability claims experience OR Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience
• Strong experience handling medical malpractice and professional liability claims
• Background in: Insurance claims (highest priority), Healthcare risk management, Litigation or paralegal work
• Experience working with: Physician, hospital, institutional, and allied health liability matters
• Understanding of claims processes, litigation support, and risk evaluation
• Ability to analyze complex cases and communicate effectively with legal teams and leadership
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship
