We are seeking a Clinical AI Product Lead with deep expertise in healthcare data, registry workflows, and large language model (LLM) development to drive innovation across a portfolio of clinical registry products. This role is ideal for a clinical domain expert with technical fluency and a passion for AI-driven transformation in healthcare. As the Clinical AI Product Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing intelligent solutions that accelerate chart abstraction, improve data quality, and enhance clinical workflows. You’ll lead product strategy, collaborate closely with engineering and machine learning teams, and serve as the clinical voice in the design and evaluation of LLM-powered abstraction tools. Responsibilities: Product Leadership Translate clinical and operational user needs into high-quality product requirements and prioritized initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, clinical operations, ML, QA, and customer teams Clinical Expertise Serve as the internal expert on clinical data interpretation and registry workflows Provide input on registry-specific question sets, abstraction logic, and clinical edge cases Review and validate AI output for clinical soundness and abstraction quality LLM Development & Prompt Engineering Design, tune, and test prompts for LLMs to optimize abstraction accuracy across diverse registry domains Conduct rigorous evaluations of LLM behavior for factuality, consistency, and clinical relevance Contribute to research on AI safety, model performance, and interpretability in clinical abstraction tasks Data QA & Performance Monitoring Define and monitor key metrics including coverage, precision/recall, and abstraction error rates Develop taxonomies of AI failure modes and lead root cause analysis to guide model and prompt improvements Partner with engineering and QA teams to build feedback loops that continuously enhance AI abstraction accuracy Clinical & Nursing Workflow Alignment Advocate for clinician and abstractor usability throughout the product lifecycle Ensure integration with existing EHR tools and abstraction processes is seamless and intuitive What you’ll need: Clinical and Registry Experience 5+ years working in a clinical or registry abstraction environment (e.g., as a nurse abstractor, registry coordinator, or clinical informatics specialist) Strong understanding of clinical data elements, chart documentation, treatment pathways, and abstraction nuances Technical & AI Fluency Experience with LLM applications in healthcare, including prompt design and model evaluation Familiarity with data analysis, model validation metrics (precision/recall, F1 score), and basic statistical reasoning Comfort working with product and ML engineering teams, writing product specs, and analyzing output data Product Management Skills Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects, define roadmaps, and deliver customer-centric solutions Excellent communication skills for translating complex clinical and technical concepts into actionable decisions Preferred Qualifications Experience working on LLM or AI/ML-powered healthcare applications Familiarity with clinical registries (e.g., STS, NSQIP, NCDR), EHRs, or abstraction tools Bachelor’s or higher degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Public Health, or related field Why we love Carta Healthcare , and why you will too!
