The Clinical/Simulation faculty collaborates with lead faculty, the Clinical Education Director, and Simulation Director to teach, evaluate, supervise students in simulation and practice settings by providing excellence in instruction a clinical judgement, critical thinking and clinical reasoning. This faculty teaches diverse groups of undergraduate BSN nursing students and assists students to gain knowledge and mastery of professional competencies. The Clinical/Simulation faculty is physically present with all clinical onsite groups or immediately accessible to students in the clinical/simulation settings. This is a full-time twelve-month nursing faculty position without rank. We're looking for candidates who have: * An active unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado. • Two years of experience in the area of instruction. • A minimum of an MSN degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation. • Strong pharmacology and general treatment knowledge and skills. Must be able to interpret patient information as necessary to assist students in the decision-making process. • Engagement with students in clinical situations and lead clinical conferences have strong written and oral communication skills as evidenced by teaching evaluations. • Nursing competence in areas of specialty. Key Job Duties * Contribute to CCU’s mission: Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. Nursing Faculty contribute to the University’s mission through their work both inside and outside of the classroom as they teach classes, advise students, and collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance and advance exemplary academics, spiritual growth, and engagement with the world. • Teaches, supervises and evaluates nursing students during clinical and/or simulation experiences. • Attends all course orientations provided by the lead course faculty and grades student clinical/simulation assignments and performance documents as required for the course. • During most eight-week blocks in the pre-licensure BSN program, teaches four-five weeks of simulation and four weeks of clinical. Semester schedules are negotiated with the BSN Program Director. • Participates in CCU Nursing professional development activities that expand expertise in areas of teaching and maintenance of nursing competence including Nursing Forum meetings. • Plans and implements effective environments for learning that reflect an understanding of the program’s mission, objectives, and curriculum. • Identifies learning needs of individual students and plans experiences to meet those needs. • Assesses student achievement of course outcomes related to professional nursing practice. • Integrates biblical principles and concepts into clinical/simulation professional practice. • Assists students in their own self-evaluation and spiritual formation. • Provides feedback to the standing nursing faculty on the course, clinical competencies, student learning modalities, simulation scenarios and clinical site. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
