Job Summary:
The Director of Human Resources plays a dual role, with approximately 80% of time dedicated to providing billable human resources consulting services to clients of Y&A to generate revenue, and 20% focused on internal human resources leadership. This role serves as a trusted advisor to client organizations, delivering comprehensive strategic HR solutions that support their business goals while also ensuring Y&A’s internal HR operations remain effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational strategy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Client HR Consulting & Revenue Generation (Approximately 80%)
• Develops, maintains, and expands a client portfolio by leveraging existing Y&A consulting relationships and pursuing new leads generated through marketing efforts.
• Serves as an outsourced or fractional HR leader for Y&A clients.
• Provides comprehensive HR consulting to include employee relations, compliance, performance management, compensation, benefits, and organizational development.
• Advises clients on federal, state, and local employment law compliance and best practices.
• Supports clients with recruitment strategies, hiring processes, employee life cycle, and workforce planning.
• Develops and implements HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks customized to client needs.
• Leads client-facing projects including HR audits, change management initiatives, performance management rollouts, and engagement programs.
• Builds strong and trusted relationships with client leadership to identify additional HR needs and consulting opportunities.
• Collaborates with internal leadership to scope projects, support business development efforts, and contribute to revenue growth goals.
• Documents client work, deliverables, and recommendations to ensure quality, consistency, and billable utilization.
Internal Human Resources Leadership (Approximately 20%)
• Oversees internal HR operations including HRIS management/payroll, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and benefits.
• Facilitates internal personnel changes, including disciplinary actions and employee terminations.
• Attends regular Directors Meetings and advises Y&A leadership on HR matters that impact operational effectiveness and business decisions.
• Ensures compliance by staying current on employment legislation and regulatory changes.
• Leads internal change management initiatives related to policies, processes, and company-wide programs.
• Develops, updates, and maintains internal HR policies and the employee handbook.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
• 10 plus years of proven progressive Human Resources experience, preferably including client-facing or consulting experience.
• Experience with HRIS platforms strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting decentralized and remote workforces strongly preferred.
