The New York Civil Liberties Union seeks law students for a summer policy internship involving legal research and advocacy on civil rights issues.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
• Engage in legal research and writing to support policy priorities on civil rights and civil liberties issues.
• Participate in policy campaigns and public education about civil rights and liberties.
• Work within the Policy Department focusing on immigration, policing, criminal legal system reform, gender and sexuality, privacy and surveillance, and First Amendment rights.
About You
The company is looking for:
• Current law students, with a strong preference for second-year students; first-year students may apply starting January 2026.
• A commitment to public interest law and civil liberties.
• Ability to submit a cover letter, resume, and a recent, unedited legal or policy writing sample not exceeding 10 pages.
Compensation & Benefits
• Stipend provided for summer interns who do not receive funding from their law school or other external sources.
