About the position The Medical Assistant at Evernorth Health Services plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers by assisting with patient examinations and treatments. This position involves a variety of back-office tasks, including patient check-in, obtaining medical histories, taking vital signs, and administering medications, all while ensuring a high level of customer service and coordination of care. Responsibilities Greet and check in patients by verifying coverage and eligibility and completing appropriate paperwork. , Obtain patient history and take vital signs. , Assist with coordination of care and administer medications. , Prepare examination rooms and clean/sterilize instruments per protocol. , Answer telephone calls in compliance with departmental procedures and route calls appropriately. , Schedule appointments and verify membership according to various benefit coverage. , Review preprinted instruction sheets with patients. , Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs. , Cross-train to new procedures and departments. , Assist in orienting new employees and temporary staff to job responsibilities. Requirements Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or on-the-job training with the ability to obtain CCMA certification. , Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. , At least 1 year of front and back office experience. , Phlebotomy skills are required. , Solid computer skills, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR). , Excellent customer service skills are required. , Team-oriented with strong time management skills. , Responsible and reliable with the ability to work clinic hours and locations.
