Principal Consultant - Utilities Civil Litigation

Job Description: • Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challenges • Analyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer valuable insight to help clients navigate legal proceedings successfully • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation matters • Provide oversight, manage and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client types • Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients • Collaborate with attorneys, legal teams and other experts to help strengthen client deliverables and outcomes • Provide expert witness testimony and analysis when required • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigation • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sector • Frequently evaluate the performance of existing offerings, recommending adjustments or enhancements to optimize consulting market share • Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firm’s services • Mentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop professionally Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law/Legal, or Political Science • Juris Doctor (JD), Master’s Degree, MBA or PhD preferred • 10+ years’ experience in the energy utility space, either at a consulting firm, a utility, a public utilities commission, a Big 4 Accounting firm, an energy-focused law firm or similar organizations • Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and direct team-based business development tasks • Proven experience in leading the ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings • Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or other utility regulatory proceedings • Very strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office suite • Must be able to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership • Requires occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada Benefits: • vacation time • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contribution • flexible spending accounts • top notch health/dental/vision insurance programs • tuition reimbursement • access to training opportunities to support professional growth objectives
