The Data Abstractor RN is responsible for collecting and analyzing patient information related to quality measures, conducting medical record reviews, and maintaining databases to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Responsibilities
• Collecting information, analyzing and completing abstracts related to patients within specific quality measure populations
• Conducting retrospective and applicable concurrent medical record reviews
• Maintaining internal and external databases, ensuring all appropriate data is entered in a timely manner
• Maintaining understanding of both measure requirements and clinical workflows to ensure accuracy and completeness of information
• Identifying opportunities for both process and quality improvements and serving as a subject matter expert in organizational quality improvement initiatives
• Providing clinical knowledge, expertise and guidance to non-RN abstractors
Skills
• Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems
• Ability to interpret clinical data and understand clinical procedures and terminology
• Current state license registration as an RN (Illinois)
• Epic experience; Previous surgery, vascular, or procedural area
• Prior experience working with clinical quality measures and registries
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
• Awareness of the principles and fundamentals related to Performance Improvement
