Description
Technical excellence
· Provide technical backstopping to relevant CORE shelter, housing, and rebuild programs domestically and internationally.
· Develop, roll out, and maintain shelter and housing technical guidelines, tools, and SOPs.
· Build out and maintain full spectrum of shelter and housing options for rapid response.
· Build the capacity of staff and partners in shelter and housing, through training, mentoring, and guidance materials.
· Represent CORE externally in working groups and technical forums, increasing CORE’s visibility in the shelter and climate space.
· Capture lessons learned and promote best practices across programs and markets, supporting continuous improvement to the quality and impact of CORE’s shelter and housing work
· Contribute to relevant evaluations, needs assessments, learning reviews, and innovation initiatives
· Advance CORE’s technical reputation as a leading voice in shelter and climate by advancing the production of technical documents, manuals, articles.
· Be up to date with domestic and international minimum standards, best practices, and innovations in shelter and climate.
New business development
· In close coordination with the partnership and development teams, develop and implement a growth strategy for the shelter and housing technical areas.
· Support new business development efforts, including program design and technical writing
· Cultivate relationships with institutional donors, peer organizations, corporate and private sector partnerships.
Other
· Deploy to support emergency responses as needed
· Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Engineering, Construction Management or related field
· Significant experience in humanitarian response or disaster recovery.
· Demonstrated experience engaging institutional donors and strategic partners.
· Experience working with U.S. Federal, State and County governments.
· 5-10 years of experience working on shelter and/or climate work internationally and/or domestically
· Experience working with institutional donors such USDoS, ARC, and CDP
· Experience in US domestic construction standards, including Fortified Construction Method is highly desired
· Familiarity with financial products and construction loans highly desirable
· Ability to travel to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice
Ability to represent CORE externally to a wide variety of donors and partners.
