A bit about the Founder: Thejo, is a multiple-time founder who previously built Airbase (acquired by Paylocity for ~$400M) and Automatic (YC S11, acquired by SiriusXM for $115M). He has since started his own venture studio, where he is incubating a couple of companies and building the initial teams. About the Role We’re looking for a contract Brand Designer to help define and build our brand from the ground up. As an early design hire, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the company looks, feels, and communicates to the world. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and is excited to create a cohesive brand system while executing day-to-day design work in a growing tech startup. This position is a freelance role, expected to be about 20 - 40/hrs a week ongoing. It will work with and report directly to the new Marketing Lead. Responsibilities • Build, own, and evolve the company’s visual brand identity across all channels • Design core brand and marketing assets including website visuals, social content, pitch decks, product marketing, and launch materials • Partner closely with founders, marketing, and product to translate strategy into a clear, compelling visual storytelling • Establish and maintain lightweight brand guidelines, templates, and systems that scale with the company • Balance big-picture brand thinking with rapid execution across multiple projects and priorities Skills & Experience • 3+ years of experience in brand design, visual design, or related roles, ideally at a startup or tech company • Strong portfolio showing end-to-end brand work, from concept and systems to execution • Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools; experience with motion, web, or product design is a plus • Experience working in tech, SaaS, or developer-focused products preferred • Strong taste, attention to detail, and ability to give and receive direct feedback • Self-starter mindset: comfortable owning projects, making decisions, and moving quickly with limited direction • Collaborative, adaptable, and excited to help shape culture as well as brand
