CAD-GIS Technician

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: We are looking for candidates that are experienced in operating AutoCAD and/or GIS. The individual in this position is responsible for producing Outside Plant (OSP) designs and associated work order package documents in coordination with other engineering department personnel. Qualified individuals should be experienced in reading and understanding utility or telecommunications cable systems and associated OSP documents. While having great drawing quality, speed, and quality control. The successful candidate must meet and follow company and business unit directives and practices. Telecom experience preferred, but training can be provided.   Qualifications: A successful candidate must meet most of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below: ·         General Computer Skills – Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio), Google Earth and Adobe Pro ·         Ability to read and interpret underground and aerial telecom facilities records on maps and fielding notes – desired ·         Experience operating in the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, etc.), QGIS, or other industry standard GIS software ·         Demonstrated understanding of basic geospatial principles and/or database principles ·         Analytical Skills - The ability to solve problems from a geospatial perspective ·         Research various websites for GIS data applicable to each project ·         Ability to pay close attention to detail and make sound decisions using information at hand ·         Strong Verbal and Written communication skills ·         Understanding of communications engineering and related systems is desired ·         Previous experience working in one or more of the following industry standard applications is desired: IQGeo, 3GIS, FROGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Katapult Pro, IKE Office Pro, and/or other telecom applications/systems ·         Skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail ·         Basic mathematical skills and calculation skills are required ·         Understand routing of utilities and placement techniques ·         Use mature judgment in all aspects of the job    Education ·      High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the position ·         Associates degree or Certificate in AutoCAD or MicroStation or equivalent experience ·         Bonus: BS in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field   Physical Requirements: ·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard ·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work ·         Light to moderate lifting may be required   Benefits: Group Medical Plan along with voluntary Dental and Vision plans, 401k Savings Plan with a company match Pay Range: $20.00 to $26.00 per hour, DOE
