I am developing a novel kitchen hand tool and am looking for an experienced mechanical engineer or industrial designer to create production-ready 3D CAD files.
The product is a reusable consumer kitchen gadget incorporating a spring-loaded actuator mechanism within the handle. It involves mechanical assembly design (no electronics or motors) and the final design should be suitable for injection molding or similar mass-manufacturing processes.
What I need:
1. Review a brief written description and hand sketches of the concept (shared after NDA)
2. Create 3D CAD model(s) in SolidWorks or Fusion 360
3. Deliver native CAD files + STEP/IGES exports
4. Ensure geometry is optimized for injection molding (draft angles, wall thickness, etc.)
5. 1–2 rounds of revision included
Ideal candidate:
1. Experience with consumer products or housewares (kitchen tools a plus)
2. Comfortable working from rough sketches and a written spec
3. Can recommend materials appropriate for food-contact use
4. Has worked with manufacturers or prototyping services before
