Role Overview The Senior Construction Manager will serve as the company's primary owner-side representative overseeing the construction of data centers delivered by colocation providers. This is a critical delivery role — you are the single point of accountability for schedule, quality, design compliance, and risk management across active construction programs. This role focuses on base building and MEP infrastructure and requires regular on-site project visits throughout the full lifecycle of each program. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones • Independently evaluate projects to assess risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and inform the business of associated potential impacts • Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to fully coordinate and integrate tenant fit-out projects with base building programs • Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards • Collaborate with design teams to ensure construction activities align with approved design plans and specifications • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success • Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards • Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement • Conduct regular project site visits to ensure schedule adherence, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifecycle Required Skills & Expertise • Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction — civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing • Project management expertise across startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects • Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements with a focus on cutting-edge technologies and sustainability • Proven expertise managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced construction environment • Expertise in developing and implementing long-term strategies and program-level requirements • Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure and inspire diverse teams of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals • Proficiency in creating, managing, and optimizing project budgets to ensure cost-effective use of resources • Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies • Extensive experience selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction project management with a focus on data center or colocation infrastructure — from a general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects • Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders • Willingness to travel regularly for on-site project visits Confidential Search | Managed by an Authorized Recruiting Partner Client name disclosed upon mutual interest and initial screening
