Our Mission
i-Lumen™ is working to change the status-quo by pioneering a new medical device field in ophthalmology intended to improve vision for AMD patients. This new therapy has the potential to address a large unmet patient population in the practice of ophthalmology.

i-Lumen is seeking an experienced Sr. Accountant (Sr. Acct). As a member of the finance team, you will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial close process, clinical trial accounting, and operational reconciliations. The Sr. Acct will partner with the CFO and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and visibility into company spending as the organization advances its clinical programs.
While serving as the operational backbone of the finance function, the Sr. Acct manages financial controls, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and reporting across multiple systems.
By supporting i-Lumen, which operates across the US and Australia, the Sr. Acct will ensure operational data from CTMS, Expensify, payroll providers, and other systems is accurately reflected in accounting records and forecasts.
Responsibilities
Financial Close
· Manage the monthly close process for the U.S. entity.
· Coordinate with the external Australian accounting firm to support the close of the AU entity.
· Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of supporting schedules.
· Prepare accruals and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
· Support the consolidation of U.S. and AU financial results.
· Assist the CFO in preparing monthly financial reporting packages and analysis.
Clinical Finance Controls
· Reconcile clinical database activity to CTMS billing records.
· Reconcile CTMS billing activity to accounting records.
· Validate clinical site fee schedules and billing logic.
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies across operational and financial systems.
Clinical Accrual Accounting
· Calculate and record accruals for site procedures performed but not yet billed.
· Accrue patient out-of-pocket reimbursements associated with clinical activity.
· Calculate recruiter commission accruals based on screening and enrollment reports.
· Maintain accrual roll-forward schedules and supporting documentation.
Expense Management
· Administer the company expense management platform configuration and controls.
· Review employee expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance.
· Approve and release employee out-of-pocket reimbursements.
· Reconcile corporate credit card activity and expense reports to statements.
· Export and record expense transactions in the accounting system.
Patent & Legal Spend Governance
· Maintain the company’s patent portfolio register.
· Track legal spend by matter and monitor budgets.
· Manage the patent renewal calendar and related deadlines.
· Forecast patent and legal spend to support financial planning.
Payroll Oversight
· Review payroll registers prepared by the payroll provider for accuracy.
· Validate payroll costs, taxes, and benefit deductions.
· Prepare and post payroll journal entries.
· Reconcile payroll-related accounts and benefit deductions.
· Provide backup support to the Payroll Administrator as needed.
· Financial Planning Support
· Maintain and update the company’s cash burn model.
· Update payroll, clinical cost, legal spend, and commission forecasts.
· Provide runway and cash flow updates to the CFO.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
· Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and GAAP principles.
· Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
· Experience reconciling operational data sets to financial records.
· Experience working with accounting, expense management, and operational systems.
Experience with one or more of the following systems is preferred:
· QuickBooks – U.S. accounting
· Xero – AU accounting
· Expensify – expense management
· CTMS – clinical billing
· Clinical databases – patient activity tracking
· ADP – payroll processing
· Advanced Excel – financial modeling and analysis
