Kobalt Music is a company that champions creators and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join their Finance team in New York. The role involves supporting the accuracy and transparency of financial reporting and operational processes, including month-end close activities and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close process for the Corporate business unit, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of key deliverables
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies
- Partner with teams such as FP&A and P&C to support accurate reporting of operating expenses
- Support statutory reporting and audit requirements for overseas subsidiaries, working with external partners where required
- Assist with group audit requirements, ensuring supporting documentation and workpapers are complete and organised
- Support the administration of travel and expense systems (Concur and CWT) and the US credit card program
- Contribute to process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and supporting solutions
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in financial information
Skills
- 1–3 years' experience in accounting or a similar finance role
- Understanding of accrual-based accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or similar)
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Experience in a medium-sized, fast-paced accounting environment
- Familiarity with NetSuite
- Progress toward a professional qualification (CPA or equivalent)
